Just sitting here and enjoying my summer.  I found this photo, and think it’s adorable.

01SJ: Subzero Block Party

The block party was all I could imagine and more. 1st street was blocked off all the way from Williams street to San Carlos. Artists, both locally and around the world, displayed their interesting pieces to the public. Walking down the street towards Williams St., you see a woman in a big white, polar looking outfit, fit for like literally below zero weather. She’s wearing sunglasses and holding a balloon.

The piece was called Ice Queen: Glacial Retreat Tent Dress. It was designed for Robin Lasser and Adrienne Pao. This dress tent is part of a series that is designed to be a form of interactive installation art. It represents the politics and society of the region the dress pertains to, in this case the Arctic. And it’s an obvious that’s it’s poking fun at the fashion industry. Wow. I have to say, when I walked under this woman’s skirt, I was half expecting to be transported to a completely different world. Hey, don’t make fun. There are weirder things.

Once I reached the end of First Street I noticed a grouping of refurbished, colorful cars. I have to admit, I saw glitter and started running. But once I got there, I was completely taken aback by what I found.

I don’t even know what else to say, except these are some seriously pimpin cars.

The rest of the festival was filled with more interesting sight seeing and awesome music from all different genres.  I cannot wait for the next 01SJ festival.  It was one of the most awesome experiences of the summer.  The next one is going to be in 2010 I believe.  Super stoked!
