The Scene at the San Jose Repertory Theatre

Yes, I will be here.  This event is for young professionals around the age 21 and older.  You pay one price for a pre-show gala (food provided by Poor House Bistro), a backstage tour, night of theatre (All the Great Books Abridged) and then an after party situation.  All the info is below, if you would like more info, visit the Rep’s website.  It’s a fun way to get out there, have loads of fun, learn about some theater, and mingle with other theatre lovers.

Check it out.  Enjoy!

The Scene

Great theatre. Great food. Great conversation. One Great Price!

WHAT IS THE SCENE

      • A dynamic social group of young professionals who enjoy exploring theatre.
      • A fully-planned all-inclusive fantastic night out with friends.
      • An opportunity to meet the players’ behind-the-scene.
      • A ticket is less than the cost of a tank of gas!

Let’s set the scene. You, your friends, and a couple dozen other fabulous young professionals meet up at one of downtown San Jose’s hotspots for drinks and catered gourmet eats. You mingle, network, or just unwind, then head over to see world-class theatre at San Jose Rep. Afterwards, you head to a swank bar and trade opinions, become an instant critic and, who knows, perhaps have a stimulating chat with that ever-so-interesting “Scenester” you locked eyes with across the aisle! Sound like your scene?

Free tacos!

tacos

Jack thought it was necessary to give the country 2 free tacos when you go in to any Jack in the Box and show a gas receipt.  You’re awesome Jack.  I don’t drive, but I’m sure I can scrounge up a gas receipt from my many friends. :)   Enjoy.

BiRtHDaY WiShEs

Alright. I know I said I was going to be out of commission for the next few days, but I thought it would be fun to find funny jokes and pictures relating to birthdays, since it is my birthday. So, here they are. Enjoy.

For his wife’s birthday party, a doctor ordered a cake with this
inscription:
“You are not getting older,
You are just getting better.”
When asked how he wanted it arranged, he said, “Just put ‘You are not
getting older’ at the top, and ‘You are just getting better’ at the
bottom.”
It wasn’t until the good doctor was ready to serve
the cake that he discovered it read:
“YOU ARE NOT GETTING OLDER AT THE TOP,
YOU ARE JUST GETTING BETTER AT THE BOTTOM.”

The best birthday cake ever…

If it is or was your birthday, Happy Birthday to you.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!

I know, I know.  I’m behind on posts.  Hopefully I’ll have up the posts from the 01SJ fest soon.  But until then, it is officially my birthday weekend.  I will be seriously out of commission for the next few days.  I’m only starting now because one of my friends is in China for the summer, and she says its my birthday now, when its really tomorrow. So yes.  It is my birthday.  Have a lovely weekend, and don’t get too routy.  That’s my job.

Also, YAY FOR ME MAKING IT OVER 300 VIEWS!!!! Now lets push for 500!

Urban…Tuesdays?

I must admit, I do miss the regular programming of Darny’s Daily.  Even though it’s Tuesday, I am going to put an urban twist on things.  I just couldn’t resist!

Trill

An adjective used in hip-hop culture to describe someone who is considered to be well respected, coming from a combination of the words “true” and “real”.

Trill ass niggaz keep it true and real.

Yellow Listed

a person who does not wash their hands after urinating is placed on the ‘yellow list’, or they are ‘yellow listed’

1: “Did she wash her hands?”

2: “Nah.  That beezy’s been yellow listed.”

I’ll add more funny ones as I find them.  Have a nice day!

01SJ Day One: Illuminating and Sexy

I’m sure you’re wondering what was so illuminating and sexy about last night. I still am too. All I know is that last night was an awesome idea, and best of all, it was free. The night started around 7:30pm at the Circle of Palms. I’m not entirely sure what was going down there. All I know someone was talking, people were clapping, and I was being distracted by two old friends who found me out in the crowd. The first event we went to was at the City Hall rotunda. Sitting down, waiting for the sun to retire for the day, listening to the Mumlers, was a lot of fun. The crowd started off small, but slowly once the band started to blast their sweet jazzy tunes, the crowd appeared, some there for the event, others wondering what the hell was going on.

Around 9pm the light show started. Incursion 37:20:15.71″ N- 121: 53:09.51″ W by Australian artist Craig Walsh showed that animals can come out of nowhere. The computer simulated exhibit displayed a creature from the digital black lagoon. Walsh literally turned the City Hall Rotunda into a mighty colorful octopus.Yes, isn’t this quite creepy? After this, we all went off to San Jose State Campus (kinda felt like a progressive party, which made me realize why they called opening night a progressive party) and enjoyed another fabulous piece called Portal, Wormhole, Flythrough by Eddo Stern. The piece was supposed to resurrect the idea that the piece had the ability to transport you from this dimension to the next. I apologize for the blurriness. My camera settings are a tad off. But it was quite the spectacle. The piece was accompanied by the talented, interesting, and horribly sexy Tristan Shone and his Drone Machines. To be able to explain it, you’ll have to take a look at the videos I’ve posted on the videos page. He reminded me of a younger, yet still very sexy Trent Reznor for you Nine Inch Nails fans. I highly recommend you take a look at the video of his show. It was very captivating.

Afterwards, we all know that I went and cocktailed a bit and discovered my new favorite drink. Other than that, that concludes the first day of the 01SJ festival. Take a look at the website, www.01sj.org, to get more information on the events that are taking place (especially the free ones). See you all back here on Saturday after the SubZero block party Friday night!

Congratulations Darny’s Daily!

I have reached my 200 slaps. It is time to treat myself to a cocktail tonight. Help spread the word for my blog so I can get another 100 slaps and have to have another cocktail!

P.S. Bacardi cocktails are my new drink of choice. Thx Toni. ♥
